We are the Number One rated Obstacle Course Racing podcast in the world according to Apple Podcasts and Amazon.com. Thank you. The Worlds Toughest Podcast is a production of Contender Media and is not affiliated with Tough Mudder or TMHQ. Opinions expressed are those of the host and guest and are not necessarily the opinions of Tough Mudder. But they might be.

Giles Chater is the CEO of Tough Mudder. Chris Maltbie is the  Senior Director of Global Brand and Product at Tough Mudder. Giles and Chris join us today to talk about a BIG change for Tough Mudder in 2024: No more 5k, 10k, or 15ks next year. Tough Mudder is returning to their roots as a "10+ miles" event.

What do you think about this change? Let us know in a review on Apple Podcasts or on our Instagram page, @theocrreport.

Chris Maltbie is the Senior Director of Global Brand and Product at Tough Mudder. Chris joins us today to talk about the new Tough Mudder Innovation Lab for 2023.

The Tough Mudder Innovation Lab is a year-round program for members of the Tough Mudder community to submit their obstacle ideas, win prizes, and potentially get their obstacle ideas onto a Tough Mudder course.

How to submit your idea
After you have designed your obstacle idea, The Innovation Lab is a five-step process. Here is how to get your obstacle idea onto a Tough Mudder course, direct from toughmudder.com
  1. Post an image and description of your idea on Instagram, including the hashtag #tminnovationlab
  2. Generate support for your concept by getting as many ‘likes’ as possible.
  3. TMHQ will review the most liked concepts monthly, looking for ideas that can be feasibly constructed while delivering an incredible experience.
  4. Selected concepts will be passed to beta testing, where we’ll build and test them with live participants.
  5. Exemplary concepts that succeed in beta testing will have the chance to be added to the permanent Tough Mudder obstacle menu.
Prizes
The most liked obstacle concept each month will win a free Tough Mudder entry. Concepts that move to the Beta testing stage will receive entry to World's Toughest Mudder.

If your design is selected for permanent inclusion on Tough Mudder courses you will win a Season Pass+, with access to all Tough Mudder 5k, 15k, Infinity, Toughest, and WTM.

Tough Mudder has run obstacle design competitions in the past, producing obstacles such as Kong Infinity. This is the first time the program has been rolled out on an open-ended basis, and the first time the greater Tough Mudder community will have a chance to weigh in on their favorite obstacle designs.

Keith Allen is the creator of the 🎶 Kristopher Mendoza 🎶 jingle, a WTM vet, and one of the most talented people you will ever meet.

Keith joins Will to talk about meeting at Taco Bell, his past career as a professional musician, and the time he got 60 miles at World's Toughest Mudder and should have gone back out for 65. Five years later he still regrets not getting one more lap in.

Keith is launching a new "Custom WTM Songs" service. If you want Keith to write a song for you about your WTM 2021 experience with your milage and your story, reach out to him on Instagram.

HEADS UP: This episode isn't for the kiddos. There are a few grown-up words in the conversation.

Battlefrog was a short-lived but extremely popular race series from 2014-2016. For a brief period in 2016 they were the third largest OCR company behind Spartan Race and Tough Mudder, until they suddenly closed up shop overnight.

From the time they closed, a running joke in the OCR industry has been "Do you think Battlefrog is coming back?" Finally, the answer is yes.

Garfield Griffiths is a long-time and well-respected member of the OCR industry. He has worked with The CrossFit Games, Spartan Race, Savage Race, OCRWC and the first incarnation of Battlefrog. He is the new Chief Operation Officer of Battlefrog. He joined the show to talk about what Battlefrog did right in the past, mistakes they made, and why Battlefrog 2.0 is set up for long-term success.

Rea Kolbl won the sprint lap at her first WTM in 2017. Then she kept going and won the whole race. That had never been done before and has never been done since. On her way to winning the race in 2017 she tied the women's record set by Amelia Boone of 90 miles in a single WTM.

After winning it all in Vegas in 2017 she defended her title in Atlanta in 2018. She and Boone are the only back-to-back women's champions of World's Toughest Mudder.

Rea joins us to talk about her campaign with Ultimate Direction called "Run Your Own Race" and what that means to her. Also, we haven't had her on the show in a long time and we missed her.
